Buffalo Nights presented the world premiere of Crazy Drunk by Robert Fieldsteel as part of the 2002-2003 Hot Properties series at [Inside] the Ford. Taking off from an actual incident in 1903 in which philanthropist Griffith J. Griffith (donor of Los Angeles' Griffith Park) shot his wife, Crazy Drunk chronicles the sensational trial that ensued from the point of view of Griffith's celebrated attorney, Earl Rogers, and Rogers' daughter, who grew up to be the famous Hollywood journalist Adela Rogers St. Johns. This darkly comic memory play presents a panorama of the wild events surrounding Griffith's trial, encompassing along the way land swindles, communication with the dead and the dawn of motion pictures.
